Lamington National Park – Binna Burra – Coomera Circuit – 17.4 km (class 4)
The scenic Coomera circuit leaves the Border Track 1.9 km from the trailhead and passes through subtropical and warm temperate rainforest communities, and giant brush box Lophostemon confertus forest. The Coomera gorge is 160 m deep. Views from the lookout platform, (5.5 km from the trailhead) on Yarrabilgong Falls, and Coomera Falls provide dramatic evidence of the power of erosion, which has cut through a thick resistant rhyolite lava flow.
The circuit continues to ascend while following the edge of the Coomera Gorge passing Nahnangboola Falls, Bahnamboola Falls, Burrajum Creek, Kagoonya Falls, Gwongarragong Falls, Hobwee Creek, Moolgoolong Cascades, Chigigunya Falls, Bower Bird Creek, Neerigomindalala Falls, Dragoon Bird Creek, Goorawa Falls.
It crosses the Coomera river several times before rejoining the Border Track and returning to the Binna Burra car park, on the way is crossing again Dragoon Bird Creek, Bower Bird Creek and Hobwee Creek. The Coomera river crossings can be hazardous after heavy rain and should not be attempted when the river is in flood.
